Our Chiropractic Approach

Chiropractic care in Chamblee Georgia 30341Historically, the practice of Chiropractic contends that the cause of most dysfunctions in the body is the vertebral subluxation (spinal misalignment) which creates "pressure" upon nerves and interferes with the normal transmission of vital energy from the brain to the rest of the body.

In practice, the chiropractor reviews your conditions, pain and discomfort, and his primary emphasis is to determine, through examination, if you have spinal misalignment(s) causing interference to the proper function of the nervous system and if you are a candidate for the specific chiropractic care we provide.

The doctor's objective is to detect the place(s) in your spine where nerve dysfunction may exist due to spinal misalignments, and review and/or perform spinal x-ray studies in order to recommend the proper course of care.

Chiropractic care in Chamblee Georgia 30341Upon analysis of the clinical findings, specific spinal adjustment is provided to restore the misaligned vertebra to a better position to release the "pressure" on nerves and thereby allow the body to properly heal naturally as the body was designed to do.

Dr. Sautre uses the Atlas Orthogonal instrument to gently realign the cervical spine without manipulation and practices well established chiropractic techniques for addressing the other spinal regions.

The Atlas, or first cervical vertebra, weighs 3 to 4 ounces and supports the head which weighs 9 to 14 pounds. As a result, the cervical spine is subject to mechanical stress and its alignment can easily be affected by minor trauma to the head and neck and poor posture. Malposition of the cervical spine called subluxation often leads to further unbalance in the body and higher risk of neurological interference between the brain and its communication with the rest of the body.

When the spine is out of proper alignment (subluxated), the body does not function properly often leading to pain, discomfort and illness:

1. Muscles and articulations work much harder to hold up the head, which is off center, affecting posture and balance.
2. There is potential interference and impedance surrounding the spinal cord and nerves that extend from the spine, which innervate and control your body functions.
3. Various problems in the neck, mid back, low back and extremities may commonly occur in an attempt to compensate for atlas misalignment.

Vertebral subluxations are often attributed to falls, repetitive stress, sports injuries and vehicle accidents. They may also occur during the birth process. Most humans have a vertebral subluxation and are unaware of it; particularly its potential negative effects on body functions.

An atlas adjustment is a gentle and safe procedure:

Unlike manipulative treatment, the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) instrument assisted adjustment is gentle, safe and does NOT incorporate any popping, cracking or twisting of the neck or spine. Dr. Serge Sautre is a Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor and has been practicing Atlas adjusting procedures successfully for almost 20 years.

How long will it take to notice changes after an adjustment?

Most patients will begin experiencing changes after a series of visits, sometimes immediately after the first adjustment and continue to improve as the course of care progresses. According to neuro-physiological research, damaged or irritated nerves may take 90 to 100 days to heal. Our goal is for patients to maintain the atlas in proper alignment so nerves which control the functions of the body can function optimally.
